There are still too many outdated, old notions about what a so-called green trade show exhibit looks like. But the truth is that the playing field for green construction materials has changed, even in the last few years. These days, eco-friendly green trade show displays are every bit as good as trade show standard display systems in terms of design, durability, attractiveness, and cost too. What are these readily available green substances, and what makes them the same, or better quality than trade show display industry standards? Let s take a look.

First, what do we mean by green materials? In short, anything that is recycled, renewable, sustainable, and environmentally safe, are green components. Years ago, this meant mostly things like cardboard, wood, and some plastics. Unfortunately, those stereotypes still remain in peoples minds and can limit the imagination as to what is now possible to make from green materials. In the trade show display industry, there are manufacturers that strictly build only green trade show exhibits, and their products look fantastic and are highly affordable. So, what are some of these green materials?

  • Aluminum extrusions from recycled aluminum this is a process wherein recycled aluminum is pushed or drawn through a die or mold, producing products like strong tubing, complex structures, and more. In green trade show equipment, very often aluminum extrusion products provide the framework for all sorts of exhibits. There are few limitations using this material.
  • PET and rPET is polyethylene terephthalate, which is made from recycled plastic bottles (rPET is simply recycled PET). This plastic can be either transparent or opaque and has a huge array of uses. For trade show displays and eco friendly trade show trusses, this is commonly plastic panels, or a Velcro-compatible alternative to Velcro, and virtually anything plastic.
  • Paradise Fabric - is a relatively new, high-quality, cloth-like material that is just as good as other fabrics that are non-sustainable. In fact, this fabric is more durable, and holds graphics ink as brilliantly as rival fabrics. In trade show displays, Paradise Fabric is used for stunning fabric-graphics exhibits.
  • Bamboo and bamboo plywood is a favorite of green trade show products, particularly for flooring, and wooden panels for cabinets and counters. Whereas it takes an oak tree over 100 years to be mature enough to harvest, bamboo can be harvested in around 3 years.
  • Sorghum board - Sorghum Board is an engineered panel product constructed from the stalks of the Sorghum plant grown around the world for food. The stalks left over after harvest are heat-pressed with a non-toxic adhesive to form a lightweight, strong, unique board.
  • Recycled rubber is commonly used in trade show displays for flooring, and backing to flooring.
  • GreenCore is a thin board, much like a foam-core board. This product is typically about
